The Northwestern Health Unit is applauding the Ford Government’s plans for more inclusive consultations about public health.
The PC’s have decided to hold additional talks this fall about the future of the system.
The input will include municipalities and health units.
The province is re-considering health unit regions and boundaries and is hoping to modernize the system.
NWHU Chief Executive Officer Marilyn Herbacz says they are happy that the provincial government has listened to the feedback from their organization and others that more consultations are needed.
Herbacz says they support the goal of creating a resilient, efficient, nimble and modern public health system, and they believe that this can only be achieved with full involvement of public health units and important stakeholders.
