Dryden’s Safeway store will be among Safeway and Sobey stores across Canada that will eliminate plastic bags next year.
The announcement to stop using plastic bags and to switch to paper for ‘carry out’ and reusable mesh bags for produce was made yesterday by Sobeys and includes all stores owned by the Canadian grocery retailer.

The announcement garnered praise from politicians, especially as the Liberal Government wants to see plastic bags eliminated in 2021
