The Federal government is doing what it can to help stop the trade in illicit drugs.
That’s the feeling of Kenora MP Bob Nault.
He says “Putting a lot of resources on the ground to deal with the border crossings and how drugs are getting into Canada actively. What is evolving now is this whole issue of what do we do with municipalities and we are starting to see task forces being created in different cities.
Nault says he’s looking for feedback from regional leaders and law enforcement on how they can help improve the system.
He believes housing is a key component to stop the flow of drugs.
Nault his government is participating because they think it’s an important area.
“It improves peoples lives socially but it also improves the economy and it makes the economy work better when people have homes and homes to go to. So, we have created the largest housing strategy.
Police across the region have said that the trade in illegal drugs is fueling high numbers of break and enters, shoplifting’s, and petty crime in municipalities.
