The Dryden Police Service has a couple of extra bodies on the streets.
The Summer Student program is in place with two young men taking part in the initiative this year.
Chief of Police Doug Palson says their primary focus is to get out around the city on their bikes and be the eyes and ears of the community and help with safety around parks to the downtown area as well.
The Service has been focused on beefing up foot patrol and Palson says this will help in that area.
Palson also says it’s a good experience for the students and helps deliver visibility for the Police Service during community events.
Officers spent 10.3 hours on patrol in June, compared to only 4.15 during the same month last year with a total of 148 hours this year compared to 162.75 last year.
The Dryden Police Service is happy to welcome Carter Loewen and Matthew McLarty as our new Bike Patrol Summer Students! …
