The Ford government is making more changes to the provincial curriculum, this time to the Grade 10 Career Studies Course.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce says the restructuring will focus on careers in high-growth industries such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
“With a youth unemployment rate that remains stubbornly high, we must, as public policy makers, ensure that we are better aligning our curriculum with the labour market.”
Lecce adds students will be taught financial management skills including, budgeting, paying bills and the value of credit.
He adds the course will help students with their budgeting in the first year after high school as well as proper usage of social media.
The newly revised program will begin in the new school year.
