It’s time to make room in the Northwestern Health Unit trophy case.
Health educator Hailey Coleman has been awarded the Rainy River District School Board’s Community Partner of the Year.
Coleman was recognized for demonstrating a commitment to student wellness at area schools.
Her award comes just weeks after the Health Unit was honoured with the national Employee Recommended Workplace Award.
The award recognizes excellence in achieving a healthy, engaged and productive workforce.
Health Unit officials say the honour will help them with recruitment and retention efforts.
The Ontario Public Health Association has recognized Manager of Communications and Foundations Alex Berry with its Award of Excellence.
The award is handed out for outstanding leadership, contributions to public health, innovation and capacity building, especially related to continuous quality improvement.
Meantime, Program Manager Shannon Robinson received the national Health Promotion Canada Recognition Award.
Robinson was recognized for her former work as Manager of Chronic Disease Prevention, where under her leadership the health unit was granted funding for Food Security Forums to engage 39 First Nation communities across the region.
She also helped develop Memorandums of Understanding with school boards in the area.
