The Path of the Paddle-Dryden Regional Trail Committee is looking for extra help as it gears up for a busy Summer on the water.
An Information meeting is being held at Open Roads Public School tonight (Thursday) starting at 7:00pm.
Chair Ember McKillop says anyone is invited to attend.
“Whether you are a paddler, or a non-paddler, or have wanted to paddle but never had the opportunity before, sea kayakers, paddle boarders. There’s all kinds of places in the committee that we need some help with.”
McKillop says they hope to complete a lot of work and upgrades this season.
“We were just given a $1,000 grant from the ‘Great Trail’ to do portage maintenance and clean-up. We also want to do an Asset Inventory of what we got on the trail and the condition of their campsites.”
McKillop says they are also looking for people interested in taking pictures and just paddling sections of the route to gather additional information.
It’s the Committee’s hope to develop a trail guide to help navigate users of the trail system.
She notes another possible project this year is doing a geocaching route along the path, noting anyone interested is asked to attend the meeting.
McKillop notes their trail has been selected to possibly host what is known as the “Great Canadian Treasure Hunt.”
