The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has announced the closure of the Dryden and Kenora board offices.
Staff will be consolidated into the second floor of Keewatin Public School.
It’s unknown right now if all staff will make the move.
The board has set a timeline no later than September 2022 for the full implementation of the consolidation.
Superintendent of Business Richard Findlay says the decision has been well received by the Ministry of Education.
Findlay says it will streamline operations and allow for better communication between departments and schools.
He stresses the board will be more effective and efficient in supporting their schools and the needs of students and staff.
Director of Education Sean Monteith says the consolidation is due a provincial directive to find savings and came out of a weekend retreat with Trustees.
It’s not yet known how many full-time staff work out of the Dryden office.
