The Red Lake Miners have found their man.
The Miners have hired Geoff Walker as the organizations new Head Coach and General Manager.
Walker is from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and brings a wealth of hockey experience to the team.
He started his junior hockey career with the Summerside Western Capitals of the MHL.
Walker then played four years of Major Junior Hockey in the QMJHL, finishing off junior hockey as the leading scorer and Assistant Captain of the Prince Edward Island Rockets.
He had a ten year professional hockey career that included three NHL contracts.
Walker started his coaching career last year with the Hinton Wildcats of the Western States Hockey League.
He led his team to a second place finish in the Provincial Division.
Walker replaces Derek Sweet-Coulter, who decided to pursue other opportunities, after leading the Miners to their best season in franchise history.
In a statement released by the Miners, Walker says “I am really excited to join a strong organization like the Red Lake Miners, they have had some great success and I am looking forward to coming in and helping build on that. Bringing a championship to Red Lake is something I look forward to helping the organization achieve.”
