In loving memory of Antonio Traini, age 80 of Dryden, who passed away on Tuesday March 5th at Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Antonio is survived by his children; Rico (Anna), Elena (Dan) and Tony (Tammy) and his grandchildren; Stephen, Susan, Lance, Tricia, Logan, Travis and Jasmine. He was predeceased by his wife Nazzarena.
Antonio was born in Offida, Italy where he learned his trade in silviculture.
He moved to Belgium in 1950 where he worked in a coal mine for 3 years, and returned to Italy only long enough to marry his wife (Nazzarena) of 47 years. In 1954 he decided to move his wife and 3 month old son Rico to Canada, seeking a better life.
He held multiple jobs once arriving in Canada until he found his calling working as a slasher and then progressed as a skidder operator in Camp 210 (Aerobus Lake), and then Camp Robinson. He moved his young family to Dryden in 1965 where he continued to work in the forest industry for Dryden Paper Co.
He began his business career in 1972 when he purchased a Pool Hall known as “Tony’s Billiards and Snooker” and then purchased another business next door as a rental income in1974. In 1981 he tore down the pool hall to pursue his life long dream of owning his own Italian Restaurant that everyone came to know and love as “Antonio’s Restaurant”. He decided to retire in 1989 to enjoy some of his passions which included travelling, fishing, hunting, camping and spending good quality time with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.
