An innovative new program is now up-and-running at the Dryden Native Friendship Centre.
Seven women have completed their first week of the Dryden Urban Indigenous Homeward Bound program.
Executive Director Sally Ledger says it’s a four-year wrap-around initiative concentrating on employment and training to remove current barriers.
Ledger says the ultimate goal is providing the participants the training and education needed to obtain a full-time job in the community.
She says they also offer housing, childcare and income support services.
It’s geared towards single, Indigenous mothers and the Dryden Literacy Association is taking the lead in the first phase of the program.
Ledger says the participants have already started on goal setting and decision making on moving forward.
