It’s mixed feelings for many of us today.
I am mad and I am sad.
What about you?
As we already reported earlier this morning and posted elsewhere on this website – police are investigating after Government Dock (Van Horne Landing) in Dryden caught fire early Monday morning.
Dryden Fire Service says they got a call about smoke near the dock around 9 a.m. yesterday.
When DFS crews arrived, they found and put out a small fire on the dock.
In order to extinguish the fire, Dryden Fire Service had to tear out several boards from the dock to prevent the fire from spreading.
If anyone has any information about the incident contact the Dryden OPP.
When I first heard about the fire….it made me sad. Sad to think about the damage. It could have been much worse. Thank you to the person(s) who reported seeing smoke in the area and for the quick response by Dryden Fire Service. Sad to think how hundreds if not thousands of summer dock users could have been without an awesome place to drop a line in the water or jump off for a hot day’s summer swim.
The following pictures (sent to me by a CKDR listener) show the aftermath and damage to a portion of the large dock.
Upon further review of the photos my feelings very quickly went from sad to mad!!
Spent fireworks and remnants of alcohol VERY close to the site of the small fire?? What the!?!! WHY?!!?
Are you feeling like I am now?
