Carol Jane LaForte, née Jarvinen
June 27, 1951 – December 17, 2024
It is with deep sorry and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Jane LaForte, who passed away peacefully at the young age of 73, after a courageous battle with aggressive cancer, with her loving husband and son by her side on the morning of December 17, 2024.
Carol was born on June 27, 1951, to Sulo and Martha Jarvinen (née Roen) of Quibell, Ontario. She was the second of 4 children.
She is survived by her husband, Len, son and daughter-in-law, Chris & Janine and her 3 precious grandchildren, Noah, Lukas and Annabella. She is also survived by her sisters Shirley Mills (Jim), Diane Fast (Ed), her brother Edwin and her nephews Darrell and Darren.
Carol, a proud Dryden-ite, was usually seen galivanting around town on the weekends on a coffee date with her husband, Len, or out supporting the local businesses.
An avid lover of the outdoors, whether it was working in her yard, pruning her flowers, camping and swimming at Blue Lake Provincial Park or just enjoying a cup of coffee on the deck, Carol loved being outdoors. The sounds of nature and the frequent visits of wildlife right in her yard brought her peace and serenity.
The best time of her life was being a caring and protective mother to her son Chris, as well as a loving and devoted grandmother to her three grandchildren. They were everything to her.
Carol and the love of her life, Len, just recently celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on the date of her cancer diagnosis.
On behalf of the LaForte Family, we would like to acknowledge the nurses, doctors and the entire team at the Dryden Regional Health Centre for their compassion, care and thoughtfulness they gave Carol over her 19-day battle in the hospital. It was because of them her husband Len was able to spend each fighting day with Carol, for which he will be forever grateful.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A small intimate family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carol can be made to the Dryden Regional Health Centre, https://www.drhc.on.ca/donate or PO Box 3003, Dryden, ON P8N 2Z6
