James (Scotty) Ferguson was born in Scotland. He and his mother arrived in Dryden in the 1920s joining his older brothers Jack and George.
Scotty served with the Toronto Scottish Regiment during WW11 as a dispatch rider. Following the war he remained in the service and was a recruiting sergeant covering Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario for many years.
Upon retirement from military service Scotty joined the federal prison system and finished his working career as a Prison Warden.
Scotty married late in life and had no children.
