Wendy Louise Black
May 6, 1955 – August 20, 2023
Wendy passed without warning in the blink of an eye. Wendy, the much loved daughter of Claude and Violet Stansfield, was born in Dryden. Wendy grew up in Dryden loved to figure skate and became an accomplished bowler. She enjoyed trying new things, meeting people and helping out whenever she could. Her distinctive laugh, kindness and thoughtfulness will be remembered by the many people she met. Wendy always found the ‘silver linings’ in people and never expressed harsh or negative thoughts. She loved her ‘Lake Family’ of 45 years in the Wiarton area and always looked forward to summers at Bass Lake. She also loved ‘Her’ cats and dogs, volunteering at the Second Chance Pet Network in Dryden.
Wendy’s husband Dan will remember the happy times his wife of 47 years and his best friend enjoyed. They moved back to Dryden after 40 plus years in the Toronto area to enjoy time with family and old friends. Wendy is survived by her brother and sister in law Ron & Linda along with nieces Kristen, Rhonda (Brett), nephew Devon (Jayme) along with all their children. She is also survived by brother in law and sister in law Len & Marianne and her ‘down south’ nieces Danielle, Maureen and Melissa and their children.
At Wendy’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral services. Some of her ashes have been spread in the lake she loved with her final resting place alongside her parents. Wendy wanted people to remember the fun times and not dwell on the loss. Donations can be made to the Second Chance Pet Network in Dryden.
