Sandra (Sandy) Louise Woods
September 23, 1947 – August 27, 2023
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 1-4 p.m. at the Best Western Sunset Hall.
Peacefully on August 27, 2023 with her husband by her side Sandra (Sandy) Louise Woods (Hutchison) passed away after a short battle with cancer.
Born September 23, 1947 to Ross Alexander & Wanda Marie Hutchison. Sandra was the second of seven children and was raised on the Hutchison Farm in Dryden, ON. On May 25, 1968 Sandra married the love of her life and life partner Philip Arnold Woods and they just celebrated 55 loving years of marriage.
Sandra is survived by her husband Phil Woods and daughters Heather (Ron) Grunewald and Brenda Kellar. Proud and loving Nana to Steven (Danae) Grunewald, Michael Grunewald, Talyssa Kellar and Zakary Kellar. Extra proud and loving Great Nana to Harper Grunewald.
She is also survived by her brother Raymond Hutchison (Karen), sisters Luana McKinstry (Elgin), Linda (Marvin) Alberts, Shirley (Tim) Miles, sisters in law Louise (Bill) Mann, Sharon (Tom) Forrest, brothers in law Gerald (Lynda) Woods, Denis (Brenda) Woods and numerous nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles and extended families.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents Ross & Wanda Hutchison, infant brother Randy Hutchison, mother and father in law Reginald & Aline Woods, sister & brother in law Cathy & Ahmet Sariev and brother in law Jim McKinstry.
Throughout her life Sandra had many interests. Sandra proudly earned her Kinette Diamond Award with the Dryden Kinette Club and will be fondly remembered for the many hours that went into organizing and running the Kinsmen/Kinette Food Booth. She spent many years at Timber Lanes Bowling Center running the restaurant, she was an avid bowler, coach and mentor. In October 2012 Sandra retired from DRHC after 23 years of employment. She spent many nights throwing darts and most recently was a big supporter and volunteer for the Dryden GM Ice Dogs. During all the years and many hobbies her best friend, life partner and biggest supporter Phil would be right by her side. They were connected at the hip in their many adventures.
At Sandy’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral services. A celebration of life for family at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Dryden GM Ice Dogs or a Charity of Ones Choice.
