Despite rain this past week, Lake of the Woods Control Board says the Winnipeg River drainage basin is in a moderate drought situation.
The North American Drought Monitor also lists the upper portion of the English River system as being in a severe drought.
The Control Board says it trying to make sure there is as much flow as possible through these rivers, especially if the drought conditions extend into the fall.
To that end, outflow from the Norman Dam into the Winnipeg River is being maintained for the time being.
In the meantime, Lake of the Woods is expected to go down another 3 centimeters in the coming week, after dropping 3 centimeters this past week.
