The Transportation Safety Board has released its final report on a fatal plane crash in Sandy Lake First Nation.
The incident happened on May 26 around 6:30 pm when a Cessna float-plane struck a 132-foot-tall communications tower on landing.
The aircraft proceeded to hit the terrain and burst into flames, killing the pilot.
The victim held a private pilots licence with a restriction of daylight flying only but he had previously held a commercial licence with some 20,000 hours of flying time.
The pilot was returning to Sandy Lake after bringing boat fuel and groceries to their cabin north of the First Nation.
The TSB says the review of the incident didn’t reveal any outstanding defects with the aircraft that may have contributed to the crash.
