The media landscape of Northwestern Ontario continues to change.
Acadia Broadcasting Corporation is pleased to announce that the CRTC has approved Acadia’s purchase of Classic Hits radio station CKQV-FM, locally known as Q104, in Kenora from Golden West Broadcasting Ltd.
Chris Pearson, the President of Acadia Broadcasting, says the opportunity to acquire the station and its repeater transmitters increases Acadia’s existing presence in Northwestern Ontario.
“We are very pleased to receive approval for the acquisition of CKQV, Q104 Kenora. The station aligns with Acadia’s focus on Entertaining, Informing and Educating the communities our stations serve,” said Pearson.
Acadia already owns and operates 89.5 The Lake in Kenora, along with 93.1 The Border in Fort Frances, 92.7 CKDR in Dryden, and both Country 105.3 and 99.9 The Bay in Thunder Bay along with stations in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
“This will be Acadia’s fifth market where it operates two radio licenses and will increase our broadcasting licenses to 18 in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario,” said Pearson.
