A Northwestern Ontario institution has been recognized provincially.
The Jeremiah McKay Kabayshewekamik building in Sioux Lookout has been named an honouree for the Ontario Association of Architects ‘Queen’s Park Picks’.
Nine projects in the province have been selected for this year’s online exhibit.
The hostel was completed in 2011 and is considered an important place to rest and get healthy.
The Association says the building carefully integrates local materials and Indigenous culture to provide a home away from home to members of 33 First Nations seeking healthcare services.
The facility was nominated by Kiiwetinoong MPP Sol Mamakwa.
