The new age range for children eligible for a Covid-19 vaccine will be available in Ontario on July 28.
Starting at 8am on Thursday, July 28, 2022, kids aged 6 months old – 5 years old will be able to have appointments booked through the provinces booking tool for their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
Youth that are 12-17 years old that are immunocompromised will also be able to book their second booster shot as long as it’s been six months since their last one.
The smaller Moderna shot for young children was approved by Health Canada in mid July. It’s the only one that approved in Canada for kids under 5 years old. This vaccine is also recommended to take in two intervals at least eight weeks apart.
Paediatric vaccines are being distributed across the province and will be available through public health unit clinics, as well as participating paediatricians, primary care providers and pharmacies and Indigenous-led vaccination clinics.
