
The Province may have reduced the tax on gasoline by 5.7 cents a litre, but you’d never know it from fuel prices around town.
At noon today (Tuesday 04 July 2022), the posted price for gasoline ranged from 2.10.09 a litre to 2.14.9 a litre, depending on where you look.
Put into perspective, this means a motorist driving a 2021 Ford F-150 with an 87 litre tank will now be paying over $180 to fill, Chevrolet crew cab with a 91 litre tank will cost just over $191 from empty while a Dodge RAM 1500 with 87 litre fuel capacity needs just over $180 as well.
Posted prices for diesel are 20 cents a litre higher.
Various sources put the blame on the war in the Ukraine to a shortage in OPEC production, while others point to record profits posted by the major oil companies as evidence of price gouging.
