Last week was a big one for graduates at Confederation College campuses across the region.
Convocation ceremonies were held in various communities including Dryden and Sioux Lookout.
This years event was different as it included graduating students from 2020 and 2021 as well.
The pandemic halted all in person ceremonies, but College President Kathleen Lynch had promised that the school would host a graduation for those who missed out.
Lynch says everyone wants that opportunity to cross the stage if they can.
She says, “It’s really special. The region is really important to us as a college and to be back and be able to show people we are here and celebrate these graduates.”
Lynch adds, “It’s a milestone. It’s a ceremony and ceremonies are important to us because it marks those passages in our lives. So, really great for them to have the opportunity to do that and graduate with their peers.”
She notes, “As a president this is the best time of year. It’s the best time of year for all of our staff, and our faculty and our students. I’ve only been able to actually do one graduation so now I will have two graduations under my belt in four years.”
The Dryden campus had 22 grads from the following programs this year: Business Accounting, Business Human Resources, Community Integration Through Co-Operative Education, General Arts and Science, Medical Laboratory Assistant, Paramedic, Personal Support Worker and Social Service Worker.
