The Dryden Public Library is hosting its TD Summer Reading Club Launch Barbecue Thursday.
The free public event is outside the Library from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Domtar is a partner and Communications and Engagement Coordinator Dianne Loewen says staff will be there.
“Able to give away free books for kids of all ages and our book giveaway events have become quite popular over the last while and this was a perfect opportunity for Domtar to partner with the Library in an effort to support youth literacy in our community as part of their Summer Reading Program.”
CEO and Chief Librarian Caroline Goulding says tomorrow’s event will include community partners, Dryden OPP, Dryden Fire and EMS will showcase some of their equipment as well as the Northwestern Health Unit and Youth Centre providing information on their services.”
Goulding says the Library and Domtar are happy and excited to launch the TD Summer Reading Club.
“Kids are rewarded for reading and for every 15 minutes of reading they get a stamp and once they collect 5 stamps they are entered into a weekly draw for a prize. There’s also a big final draw at the end of the Summer. And we have daily programs at the Library too like crafts, fun activities, movies and more.”
