Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner won his home riding of Guelph but the party couldn’t pick up any additional seats.
Schreiner thanked his team and congratulated Doug Ford but made a plea to the incoming Premier.
“The people have spoken but at this critical moment, at this critical moment in time, I ask you to consider the financial, the economic and the climate implications of paving over the places we love, the farmland that feeds us, and the nature that protects us.”
Schreiner adds, “We can do politics differently in this province. We can work across party lines. We can put people before politics. People before partisanship. We can ensure that we’re going to continue fighting so that everyone has an affordable place to call home.”
Unofficially the Green party picked up the one seat but Schreiner was adamant that his party is the right one to lead Ontarians.
“We invest in the front-line healthcare workers who care for us and that mental health is health. As we build connected communities we will fight to stop the sprawl and protect the places we love.”
