The Kenora District Services Board is seeking proposals for its 2022 Child Poverty Reduction Reinvestment Fund.
Money will be allocated to groups and organizations looking to create new programs or build on existing ones in a bid to prevent and reduce the depth of child poverty.
The goal is promote attachment to the workforce, resulting in fewer families relying on social assistance and ensuring families are working.
The KDSB provides annual funding of $130,145.
Chair Barry Baltessen says, “The Board feels the Child Poverty Reduction Reinvestment Fund is a vital investment that will help remove barriers for youth participating in their communities. The pandemic and inflation have also put additional burdens on families when trying to ensure that their youth are able to feel involved and connected with their community. Approved programs and services that receive funding help provide an opportunity for inclusion and youth being able to take part in something that may not have been available to them due to financial cost.”
Project proposals that demonstrate community coordination with more than one partner will be considered an asset.
The deadline to apply is April 29 at 4:00 pm.
