Twenty-Two thousand dollars is going towards renovations for Dryden’s Community Support Centre Northwest at 53 Arthur Street.
The funding is through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.
“Our government is proud to help upgrade the Community Support Centre-Northwest, a hub providing crucial community social services,” said Greg Rickford, Minister of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry. “These improvements will reduce maintenance and energy costs—money that can be reinvested into programming to better serve clients. Extending the useful life of buildings such as these is another way we are building strong, vibrant communities and improving the overall quality of life for Northern Ontarians.”
Upgrades will include new insulation, roof shingles, siding, and windows to improve the building’s overall energy efficiency so that the centre can continue to deliver important services to vulnerable people for years to come.
“We are thankful for the support of our provincial government. This funding will assist us in extending the useful life of our aging building by returning it to a state of good repair,” said Debbie Dokuchie, Executive Director, Community Support Centre-Northwest. “Addressing the deficiencies will allow us to continue to provide quality programs and services within a safe and healthy environment.”
The Community Support Centre, previously known as the Dryden Volunteer Recruitment and Referral Centre, recently celebrated 30 years as an incorporated service provider.
The multi-service organization provides a variety of programs to children, youth, adults and families.
