A fundraising campaign for a convoy of truckers protesting lockdowns, vaccine mandates and vaccine passports has pulled in over $4.3 million with nearly 57,000 donors. (As of 10:00am Tuesday)
UPDATE: However, according to various media reports the GoFundMe account has been frozen.
The reports state proper documentation is being requested by GoFundMe on how the money is going to be distributed.
The fundraiser is being organized by Alberta’s Tammy Lich, secretary for the provincial Maverick Party.
Lich has stated the money will be used to support drivers with accommodation, food and fuel for their trucks.
The schedule for ‘Freedom Convoy 2022’ has the transports arriving in Kenora Tuesday night at 7:00.
The drivers will continue east Wednesday with plans to leave Kenora at 9:00am.
The schedule has the group stopping in Ignace at noon.
The convoy is expected to arrive in Ottawa for a massive but peaceful rally Saturday.
In an email to the CKDR Newsroom, a former Dryden resident living along the Trans Canada in Saskatchewan, stated there was easily 300 plus vehicles in the convoy and took about 45 minutes to pass by.
That number is expected to grow significantly and travel warnings are anticipated with the lack of passing lanes on Highway 17 in our area.
If you need to travel east for any reason, you should consider changing your schedule to avoid travel disruptions.
