Debra Hicks
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Debra Hicks on Monday August 23rd, 2021. Debra was the first of seven children born to parents Ken and Theresa Collins. She attended St. Joseph’s and Dryden High School. She only ever wanted to be a nurse and worked all her evenings and holidays cutting meat at Notte’s Supermarket to pay her own way through nursing school.
Debra married right out of school to Harold Nahwegahbow and moved away to Sudbury. Together they had 4 children. Years later she returned to Dryden and met and fell in love with the love of her life Gerald Hicks along with a whole new family to love also. Debra had a big heart, always volunteering or helping out any where someone needed help. Debra absolutely loved becoming a nokumus(Komus) to all her grandchildren; the apples of her eyes.
Debra was predeceased by her father Kenneth Collins, her sister Fran Collins. Debra is survived by her loving husband Gerald Hicks of Dryden Ontario, by her children Carrie Lyn(Dan)Reed of Nobel Ontario, Micheal Nahwegahbow(Jenna) of Sudbury Ontario, Pamela(Justin) Kolne-Gordon of Hamilton Ontario, Angela(Kevin) Harrison of Sioux Lookout Ontario, Gerald’s shared children Angie, Charlie, Brian, Kim and Roxanne, her mom Theresa Collins of Dryden Ontario, siblings Kandiss(Bill)Birnie, Wanda(Jim)Ingoldsby of Calgary Alberta, Ken(Kathleen) of Edmonton, Kathy Collins(Bryn Miles) of Thunder Bay Ontario, Nicole(Cam) Gamble of Queen Charlotte Island B.C., and brother-in-law Joey Crowe of Dryden, Gerry’s sister Patrica Kerr, she will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Hayden and Rory Reed, Liam and Lillian Harrison and Arianna Nahwegahbow, there are many extended family that loved and enjoyed Debs company, aunts, uncles, cousins nieces and nephews.
