The Eagle Lake Chiefs are the runner ups of the 2021 Fred Sasakamoose “Chief Thunderstick” National Hockey Championship.
The Chiefs fell 3-2 in the championship game to the Canoe Lake Young Guns in a shoot out.
It was the team’s first go at the invitation only Canada wide tournament in Saskatoon over the weekend.
Eagle Lake took home two awards with Top Defense going to Owen Headrick and Top Goalie awarded to Bradley Dobson.
Fred Sasakamoose’s dream was to create a National Championship for Indigenous Hockey Athletes in the hope that one day the Olympics will have an Indigenous Team.
