Charlie was cherished by his wife Pamela, sons; Daniel (Patti) and Jerimiah, grandchildren; Kennady, Layne, Dwayne, Annabelle and Zachary, siblings; David, Nicole, Lillian, Elaine and Sheila and parents; Clarence and Grace. He is loved, honoured and will be greatly missed and has left us with great memories.
Charlie was born in Dryden, ON. He attended Cairnbrogie and then Sprucedale public schools. He graduated from Dryden High School in 1972. When he was 7 years old he attended cub scouts then at age 12 went on to Army Cadets until he aged out at 19 in 1971. At 13 he achieved the rank of Sargent Major.
In 1973 he started in the workforce as a supervisor at the Dryden Mill. From 1990-1998 he was the Wood Measurement and Fibre Coordinator. He had many responsibilities including overseeing 10-50 employees, safety, wood inventories and strip and landing allocation just to name a few. In 1980 the family relocated to Ear Falls, ON for job enhancement then returned to Dryden in 1983 until his retirement in 2002.
Charles had many qualifications including; supervisory courses, standard and emergency first aid, firefighter and trainer and a licensed scaler (wood measurement) which required high accuracy as many things relied on his results.
Charlie always loved having his wife and kids out at the lake camping and fishing. He also enjoyed snow machining and other outdoor activities, walking, reading, games, country music, jigsaw puzzles and billiards. When the kids were younger, they enjoyed hanging out at the arena playing hockey. In his free-time, Charlie took part in running the snack bar, score keeping and time keeping at the arena. He was awarded Volunteer of the Month! He enjoyed hockey and baseball. He would be seen coaching and transporting players. He also convened leagues, officiated and trained during games.
After retirement Charlie slowed down a bit due to health reasons but Charlie had a very big heart and always enjoyed making the kids smile and laugh. He was never scared to try anything new and had fun doing it. He always made the best time of it. He was always there to help anyone who needed it.
