Monday marks National Indigenous Peoples Day and the City of Dryden committee and Dryden Native Friendship Centre have completed final preparations to honour the day.
While the signs are up now, Colonization Avenue will officially be renamed to Boozhoo Avenue and Memorial Avenue.
Community members are invited to watch a free virtual concert at the Sunset Drive-In Theatre Sunday, June 20 featuring Indigenous artist Shy-Ann Hovorka.
Gate opens at 8:30pm with showtime at 9:30pm or sunset.
As for Monday, June 21 the Dryden Native Friendship Centre will be hosting a take away lunch at 74 Queen St starting at 11:30am.
Domtar will also be in the parking lot handing out tree seedlings in partnership with City of Dryden until 2pm.
A pow wow will also be taking place behind the Homeward Bound building and is not open to the general public but it will be live streamed from noon until 3pm.
Performers will be grouped together up to 10 persons and the Grand Entry ceremony that starts the pow wow won’t be filmed or shown online to follow cultural protocol.
