Red Laker’s will now have the chance to support their local hospital.
The first of 12 online 50/50 draws kick off today (Tuesday) at 11 a.m. in support of the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital.
Director with the Hospital Foundation Angela Bishop says they’ll be doing one draw a month.
Without being able to hold their usual fundraising events due to COVID-19, Bishop explains they turned to online.
“We know just how much excitement the online 50/50’s have generated throughout the region and actually throughout the province. People are happy to support their local hospital and at the same time also having the chance to win a big prize.”
Ticket sales for the first draw will end March 30th at midnight.
Bishop talks about what people will be supporting when they buy tickets.
“We are raising money to purchase digital x-ray equipment for the hospital. A lot of money has been raised towards this, but we still have about 80 thousand dollars to go in order to pay off the entire thing.”
The hospital also hopes to raise money to purchase laboratory equipment for diagnostics, a stress EKG treadmill and monitoring equipment.
