WAYNE PARKIN
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden, yet peaceful passing of Wayne Parkin at the age of 81 on August 4, 2019, in the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Wayne is survived by his son Terry (Nancy) Parkin, grandchildren Kyle and Kara Parkin (Steve Manduca). Wayne’s family was a very important part of his life. He cherished his grandchildren and spent much time hunting and fishing with his family.
Wayne was born August 20, 1937 in Fort Frances, Ontario to James and Lenore Parkin. He worked hard, spending many years at the Dryden Mill working in the laboratory and later as a pipefitter; as well as working in a partnership with the Texaco Company.
Wayne was an avid sports fan and faithfully followed the Toronto Maple Leaf’s and the Toronto Blue Jays. In his younger years, he played for the Dryden Rocket’s hockey team and later played slow-pitch baseball for Vic’s Perogy Pushers.
Wayne is also survived by his sister, Ricki (Terry) Brown and their children Jenny (Luis) Ramirez and Shelly (Todd) Resler, as well as sister-in-law Wendy Wiedenhoeft and her two children Scott (Erin) and Kerry (Jana) Parkin. Predeceased by parents and brother Dale Parkin.
A Memorial Funeral Service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held Monday August 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Moffat Chapel of Stevens Funeral Homes. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date.
