The rehabilitation of the runway at the Red Lake Airport is underway.
A ground breaking ceremony was held Monday afternoon.
Airport Manager Duane Riddell says the total cost of the project is $10-million and is completely funded by the Federal Airport Capital Assistance Program.
Riddell says work includes pulverizing and repaving the runway, redoing all of their taxiways, expanding the apron and replacing runway lights.
He notes “this project should allow the Airport to operate for probably the next 20 to 25 years unencumbered. It’s a huge boost for the region.”
