A learning experience for members of the Provincial Police.
A team of officers has concluded a trip to the remote community of North Caribou Lake First Nation.
The officers had a tea with Naomi and Don Chikane who are in charge of the Family and Well-Being program.
They are tasked with ensuring the community is still rooted within the original Oji-Cree traditions by cooking traditional dishes and catching fish with long nets.
The officers were then invited to learn how to prepare walleye eggs and pemmican using traditional methods and how to remove feathers from geese and smoke fish.
Those involved say it was a great experience, stressing the local community members were friendly and inviting.
