A fire is out at the Goldcorp Musselwhite Mine.
The fire started Friday night during a shift change at the mine around 280 kilometres north of Thunder Bay.
Christine Marks, a spokesperson with the company, says it’s still too early to say what caused the blaze.
As of Sunday afternoon, officials said they hadn’t been able to enter the mine to get a look at the damage, so they can’t say if this will require the mine to be closed for any length of time.
However, Marks indicates that because of the smoke they saw during the fire, they believe most of a conveyor belt was consumed. (Photo: Lori Seguin)
