Jeannine Hanson (nee Champagne)
In loving memory of our dear mother and grandmother who passed away peacefully on February 12, 2019 at Princess Court with her family at her side.
Jeannine was born June 23, 1934 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. While visiting her sister in Dryden, she met the love of her life, Dale and they were married October 8, 1960.
Over the years, she worked as a secretary at Borger Motors, Downtown Esso and OPSEU until her retirement in 1994.
When we think of Jeannine, we will always remember her joie de vivre, her generous spirit and the unconditional love she had for her family. Her primary focus was to care for her family but she also enjoyed time spent pursuing her passions of sewing, baking, knitting and shopping. We all have our precious handmade creations that we will always cherish. Everyone who knew her can attest to the fact that you never left her house without a care package, a loving hug and a big kiss.
Jeannine was a devout member of St. Joseph’s parish and an active volunteer with the Catholic Women’s League. Until her illness restricted her activities, Jeannine was the ‘Meals on Wheels’ coordinator for the church and she lovingly sewed the baptismal stoles to welcome the new members of the parish. She loved to sing, dance and talk on the phone. We all miss her regular calls.
Jeannine was predeceased by her loving husband, Dale; her parents, Michel and Marie Champagne; her siblings, Calista, Marie, Lenore, Gilbert and Therese.
Jeannine will always be lovingly remembered and cherished by her two daughters, Brenda (Tom) Wood of Dryden and Catherine Hanson (Bruce McFadden) of Sault Ste. Marie. Jeannine’s grandchildren, Jared (Kristin) Meadows, Shanna (Ryan) Potter, Darian Meadows, Jaimie Peace and Reagan Peace will always treasure their precious memories of time spent with their Mimi. Her great-grandchildren, Emerson, Bennett and Gunnar Meadows and Kolbyn and Merynne Potter were blessed to have the opportunity to rock and sing with her. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Irene Hanson and Nancy Hanson of Rainy River, in addition to her beloved nieces, nephews and close friend, Lorraine Lang.
Visitation will be held at Stevens Funeral Home on Sunday, February 17 from 1:00 p.m. with prayers at 2:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Dryden with Father Alan Campeau officiating. Interment of ashes will take place in the Dryden Cemetery.
