The Dryden Police Service recognized outstanding efforts by uniformed officers, civilian staff and community partners Thursday night.
Certificates of Appreciation and Commendations were handed out to a handful of individuals at a small ceremony.
Chief Doug Palson believes it’s important to thank those who go above and beyond the call of duty.
Palson says it’s amazing to see the time and effort these people invest to improve the way of life in Dryden.
Palson singled out jail and crossing guards, stressing their time and dedication often gets overlooked, calling them an essential service.
He also thanked Inspector Ann Tkachyk and Community Services Officer Denise Szachury for their ongoing efforts towards community safety.
Palson says Tkachyk has taken the lead on creating the “Situation Table”, while Szachury has been instrumental in the “Project Sunset” initiative.
Szachury has also been organizing Winter clothing drives and school safety initiatives.
Palson says those honoured at the ceremony are all about community policing and being connected to the community.
