A couple of fire fighters from the Ministry of Natural Resources are being honoured for their brave work.
Dryden’s Dave Cleaveley received the Director’s Commendation.
He got it after he helped the driver of a truck that flipped on the highway between Thunder Bay and Dryden.
“Basically just did what we are trained to do, tried my best to help out, he was hurt, got him out of his vehicle, bandaged him up with my first aid kit in the Ministry truck, once paramedics and the police arrived helped out with crowd control.”
The crash happened in the early morning hours of July 26th.
Meanwhile, a crew from Red Lake also were honoured for their work in rescuing a pilot that crashed his aircraft off of Little Trout Lake.
Dryden’s Caitlin Egli and her crew were called to that scene she says it felt good to help out.
“Honestly it was a day that went well, all things considered, it went well for my crew and it went well for the casualty that we did some first aid responding.” (Photo by Sheri Leviski Kotyk)
