Environment Canada has placed the Dryden – Ignace corridor under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch (11:40 am Monday 17 July)
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon into this evening. Some of these storms may become severe with wind gusts up to 90 km/h, nickel size hail and heavy rain.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
The Watch also covers Fort Frances and Atikokan.
