UPDATED 4:00 pm June 14
Environment Canada has expanded Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Dryden, Sioux Lookoout, Ignace, Ear Falls and Red Lake and has issued a Severe Thunderstorm WARNING for Kenora, Sioux Narrows and Fort Frances
Thuderstorms are expected late this afternoon or evening. At 4 PM, Doppler Radar showed a band of small, intense storm cells moving south-west to north-east on both sides of Kenora and Sioux Narrows.
Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and damaging hail. An advancing trough of low pressure is expected to trigger thunderstorms this afternoon with the potential for some of them to be severe. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road.
