Visitors to the house will always remember mom holding court with a book in one hand and a beer in another. “Sit down for a minute” she would always say.
She was blessed with a life that was full of stories and the gift-of-the-gab: from her childhood in Sarnia, to her nursing career as a graduate TGH (1964), to her kids and husband Duane.
Good times and food always seem to go hand-in-hand with mom. Her favourite time of year was the “come and go” drop-in on Christmas Eve. She always would say “come for 5 minutes”. If you showed up it was never for 5 minutes.
Mom was passionate about her dogs throughout her life (the 3 Tonys, Rom, Brack, Gunner, Ibbi, Midget, Pesh, Abigail, Sarah Jane, Findley, Tink, Spirit, Ivy, Kenji, and Penelope).
She loved elephants! Everything from the song Elephant Walk by Henri Mancini from the movie Hatari (1962) to her collection of elephantalia that is bursting out of it’s cabinet.
Her book room was one of her prize possessions as she never got rid of a book.
After living in Oakville for 33 years she retired to her dream house on the shores of Lake Wabigoon in Dryden to be closer to her grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by all of us and she would love it if any donations could be made to the Second Chance Pet Network in Dryden, Ontario through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, Ontario, P8N 2X3.
