The face of policing continues to change across Canada.
Last month, Ann Tkachyk became the first female officer in Dryden to been named Detective.
She says the City Police force has played an instrumental role in attracting female recruits.
Tkachyk stresses they have a fair and diverse organization, noting they currently have five female officers on the beat.
She adds it’s no longer a surprise to see a female officer in a leadership role.
Tkachyk says policing has come a long way since she first started in 1992.
