Taking an in-depth look at mining, the people involved in the industry, the work underground and its impact on the community.
The feature length documentary ‘A Rock and a Hard Place’ will be featured at the Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre Friday and Saturday.
Producer Cliff Caines left the community in 1996 and he says the film is part nostalgia and part raising awareness.
Caines says the documentary is aimed at bringing awareness of a modern day gold rush and the effects a boom and bust industry has on a community.
Caines goes 7,000 feet underground and brings you an in-depth look at the gold extraction process, while taking you to the surface to speak with community members.
The film has already been recognized at a national level receiving Honourable Mention for the Colin Low Award for Best Canadian Documentary.
