Dryden firefighters were on scene at Dryden High School for 45 minutes on Sunday.
School officials noticed an odour in the corridor near the shops and an investigation of the woodworking shop found a table saw smoking.
A teacher called 911 and another teacher used a portable fire extinguisher to contain the fire.
Dryden firefighters continued fire suppression, removed combustibles, and ventilated smoke from the large shop area.
The cause of the fire is from the electrical wiring inside the saw, combined with combustible dust and shavings built up.
