It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of Shirley Lynn Nielsen (Smith) on Sunday, April 20th, 2014.
Shirley loved life and fought valiantly to the end when her health began to deteriorate. A favourite nanny, aunt and “second mom” to many, she will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Crystal (Bryce, Ashley, Jax), Belinda Ritchie (Grant, Natasha, Braydon, Connor), Trevor (Laurel, Anissa, Anika), Kim Douglas (Steve, Joel, Grace) and her very special son, Jens. Also left to mourn are her sister, Mona, sister in laws Karin, Hedy and brother in law Jens, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband John, and special family members, Stella, Graydon, Hazel, Barry, Gloria, Connie, Jake, Robert, Fred, Peter, Linda, Oda, Bent, Wayne and Brian.
A sincere and heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at the Dryden Hospital. Words cannot express the gratitude felt for their excellent support during this difficult time. An extra special thank you to Aunt Karin who helped mom and Jens tirelessly.
There will be a private family Service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated and can be made through Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave. Dryden, ON P8n 2X3.
