Power Toboggan Assoc. general meeting
September 4th through September 9th in Sioux Lookout

The Ojibway Power Toboggan Assoc. is scheduled to hold a general meeting, Tuesday September 9th at 7:00 p.m. at the Clubhouse on Abram Lake Road. All interested persons are invited to attend and help get our 2008, 2009 season off to a great start.

Policing Committee Meeting

The Sioux Lookout-Hudson Community Policing Committee is scheduled to have a general meeting, Monday September 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the OPP Office. All persons interested in helping make the community a better place are invited to attend.

SLO Library Storytime

6th Annual Alzheimer Fall Ride for Memories
September 6th in Dryden

A Dryden committee is being formed now to organize the finale of the 6th annual Alzheimer District Fall Ride for Memories. "The biggest ride of the north," with over 150 riders last year.

This year's ride will take place Saturday, September 6th.

At the Dryden Public Library, Junior Readers Book Club will be commencing Saturday, September 20th Ages 7 to 12, 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Join in for crafts, book talks, and games.
Sunday Story Time will be commencing Sunday, September 21st for ages 3 to 6 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Join in for crafts, stories and games. No fee, no registration required for these programs.

27th Annual Ear Falls Terry Fox Run
September 14th in Ear Falls

It starts and ends at the Ear Falls Recreation Centre starting at 12 noon Sunday, September 14th and the Centre will be open till 3 pm for registration. There will also be a map for the participants. Registration forms are avaiable at several outlets around Ear Falls. For more information call Joyce at 222-3231

Terry Fox Run in Red Lake

The Terry Fox Organization is mailing out packages to past participants and pledge forms will be available soon in the usual Red Lake area locations.

Participants can walk, run, bike, skateboard, or wheelchair around the 5 km or 10 km routes.

Registration will begin at the Red Lake Recreation Centre at noon on September 14 with start at 1:00 PM.

Dryden Terry Fox Run
September 14th in Dryden

Rain or shine on Sunday, September 14. Start time is 1:00 pm at the rear parking lot entrance of The Dryden Police Service building on Princess Street. Pledge sheets are available at the Dryden Police Service, Dryden Public Library, City Hall, Ella Lynn's, Riverview Lodge and the Dryden Pool and Fitness Centre. Participants can also register and collect pledges on-line at terryfoxrun.org. Registration begins at 12:30 pm and volunteers will be there to accept any personal donations. The route is 5 or 10 kilometres and you are welcome to walk, run, bike or rollerblade the distance. All proceeds go to the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research. If anyone is interested in being the Dryden organizer for next year's Terry Fox Run, please contact The Terry Fox Foundation at terryfoxrun.org.

Open Horse Show
September 20th through September 21st in Dryden

The Dryden Saddle Club is hosting its last Open Horse Show on the 20th and 21st at the Dryden Agricultural Grounds. The Performance events occur Saturday and the Gymkhana events happen Sunday. Communities in Bloom Annual Fall Fair
September 20th in Red Lake

Communities in Bloom in Red Lake is hosting their Annual Fall Fair on September 20, 2008 in Norseman Park. Bring a donation for the local food bank between 10:00 am and 1 pm and pick up perennial plants and seeds. There will also be a Geranium Give-Away, Crafts and bake sale, live music and door prizes. Everyone is invited to participate; rain or shine.

Give the Gift of Life Walk

The Kidney Foundation of Canada is holding a “Give the Gift of Life” Walk in Dryden on Saturday, September 20th. Beginning at the Queen St Legion at 11AM, the walk will raise funds and awareness for those living with kidney disease in the North. Registration is at 10:30 am at the Legion. Annual AIDS Walk for Life

The annual AIDS Walk for Life will take place on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 1 pm beginning at Hong Kong House.

Everyone is invited to participate.

You may collect pledges and walk or walk without pledges as a show of support. Prizes and snacks will be available at the end of the Walk.
