The season has come to an end for the Kenora ‘AAA’ Thistles Midget Hockey team.
The Thistles were swept by the Thunder Bay Kings in the Northwest Branch Playdowns over the weekend; 5-1 and 2-0.
Eagle Lake’s Matthew Pitchenese scored Kenora’s lone goal.
Thistles captain and Ignace resident Hunter Buzzi says it’s sad that they came up short but stresses they battled hard and he’s proud of their effort.
This is the end of for Buzzi with the Thistles and he says he enjoyed his time with the team.
Buzzi is an Affiliated Player with the Fort Frances Lakers in the SIJHL.
The Kings will represent this region at the 2017 Telus Cup in Steinbach.
