Despite playing an entire season bouncing around positions, forced to play defence and sitting 8th in SIJHL scoring, Dryden Ice Dogs utility man Nic Noseworthy has been denied the league’s Top Defensive Forward award.
The honour instead goes to Thunder Bay North Stars captain Brett Wolframe.
A league media release says Wolframe is asked to play against the other team’s best players on a nightly basis, is strong on face-offs and helped the North Stars boast over an 80-percent success rate while shorthanded.
Noseworthy is part of the top ranked penalty kill unit in the SIJHL and has five shorthanded points.
He also outscored Wolframe by 41-points.
Jared Virtanen of the Fort Frances Lakers also received consideration.
